Hollygrove believes that every child deserves a loving family. Many foster children experience multiple
placements, and feel abandoned, alone and desperate for family connections. In the process of moving from one foster
placement to another, relationships with biological families are often lost, as well as vital ties to community.
Children aging out of foster care may have little or no connection to a caring adult.

Research shows that lifelong, loving connections are the single most significant predictor of future success
for children in the child welfare system. Hollygrove’s Family Finding program helps make those connections. This
inventive resource helps reconnect children to their biological families and speed their recovery from emotional
trauma. It provides a starting point for a foster child to build a relationship with healthy adults who can have
an ongoing, meaningful presence in his/her life. Once one vital family link is found, often that individual can
provide connections to other family members. Even if the family linkages don't lead to permanent placements, they
can provide a foster child with an important sense of belonging or a place to go for the holidays.
Each year 20,000 young people between the ages of 18 and 21 leave the foster care system when they become
legal adults, and many are left without any support, family connections or the skills they need to succeed in life.
This vital program is funded entirely through private donations.
